REVIEW: Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover

Synopsis

At twenty-two years old, aspiring musician Sydney Blake has a great life: She’s in college, working a steady job, in love with her wonderful boyfriend, Hunter, and rooming with her good friend, Tori. But everything changes when she discovers Hunter cheating on her with Tori—and she is left trying to decide what to do next.

Sydney becomes captivated by her mysterious neighbor, Ridge Lawson. She can’t take her eyes off him or stop listening to the daily guitar playing he does out on his balcony. She can feel the harmony and vibrations in his music. And there’s something about Sydney that Ridge can’t ignore, either: He seems to have finally found his muse. When their inevitable encounter happens, they soon find themselves needing each other in more ways than one…

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Colleen Hoover, a passionate tale of friendship, betrayal, and romance—and the enchanting music that inspires one young woman to put her life back together.

My Thoughts

Oh WOW! What an AMAZING story!

Sydney Blake thought her life was perfect. She was in College and had a job. She had a great boyfriend and a fantastic best friend and roommate. Plus, there's the cute guy that plays guitar on his balcony every night for a little extra eye candy. She connected to his music and began making up her own lyrics to his songs.

Ridge Lawson had a perfect life of his own. He had an amazing girlfriend. He wrote lyrics and music for his band Sounds of Cedar. He also had extra eye candy in Sydney. He would watch her on her balcony and could see that she was singing to his music. With some written signage, they exchanged numbers and began texting.

Ridge was put in an awkward situation. He could see what Sydney's boyfriend and best friend were doing behind her back. But how could he tell her? After all, he didn't know her very well.

The day Sydney lost her job was the day she found out for sure. To make matters worse, it was her birthday. What a great day to lose your job, your boyfriend, your best friend and your home. Ridge felt horrible for having to tell her the truth, and offered her to stay with him and his flatmates until she got on her feet.

I loved Sydney and Ridge's story! The attraction between Sydney and Ridge was strong and tangible. It was an emotional journey, with ups and downs and laughter and tears. The lyrics, along with the soundtrack, added to the story. The characters were lovable and easy to connect with.

As always, Colleen Hoover's writing is captivating. It holds your attention and keeps you longing for what's to happen next. Maybe Someday is by far one of the best books I've read this year!
