REVIEW: Carter Reed by Tijan

Synopsis

Emma decided to skip the gym and went home early. It was the last easy decision she made because she found her roommate being raped by the boyfriend. She had two choices. Call the cops and be killed by his family’s mafia connections or kill him first and hope to survive. There was no choice to her. She killed the bastard first and went to the one person who could protect her. Carter Reed. He’s a weapon for the rivaling mafia family, but he’s also Emma’s secret. Not only was he best friends with her brother, but she’s the reason he became that weapon in the first place.

My Thoughts

The synopsis for Carter Reed grabbed me hook, line and sinker! And so did the cover! I must say, the story line was exactly the same. I was addicted to it!

The characters were extremely believable, very lovable and easy to connect with. I felt like I was right there beside Emma on her journey. I absolutely loved Emma. I felt her pain from her childhood, I felt her fear, I understood why she had to turn to Carter and I loved watching her grow over the course of the book.

And Carter Reed? What's not to love about a hot as hell guy with chiseled muscles and piercing blue eyes? Oh yeah he's a mobster! Ummm... Nope. That's not a deal breaker for me! Carter was kind, sensitive and caring towards Emma. His mobster tough guy image was just that - an image. Although he had a reputation, and the nickname The Cold Killer, deep down he was protective over those he cared about and loved.

Tijan's writing is amazing. It's powerful and mesmerizing and has the ability to immerse you in the story completely.

Carter Reed is on my must read list. I can't recommend this book highly enough!

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review
