One tangled cassette tape. Two tangled lives.

On her quest to fix the tape she meets Leo, a guy as down on his luck as she is lost. What starts with curiosity leads to something resembling a relationship and maybe a chance at love.

Excerpt

"Can I look?" I gestured to the movie collection he had piled next to the massive TV.

"Sure." He walked over to the kitchen counter and put down his keys, wallet, and phone. I liked that he put down his phone. It meant he was all there with me. I’d worked hard to break my own addiction to technology.

"Quite the collection." My eyes ran over the titles.

"I've picked up a few over the years."

"What's your favorite?" I kneeled down to see them better.

"You can't ask me that."

"Why not?" I raised an eyebrow.

"Because I don't have one favorite. Each category is different."

"But no overarching favorite?"

"Not for movies, but I do for music. Movies are like food while music is like women."

"Uh, do I want to know what that means?"

"Movies each have different purposes for me. Some make me laugh, some make me think. Some are entertainment. Like food. How can you compare a burger with a slice of cake? They serve different purposes.”

"Got it, but why is music like women?"

"Music has one purpose. To move someone. I can pick one favorite. The same goes for women. Who needs variety if you can find everything in just one?"

Words had never turned me on so much. "That's an interesting way to view things."

"It works."

I stood up. "But what if you never find one thing that has everything you need? Do you keep searching?”

My Thoughts

Life After Falling was such a sweet story and had me hooked from the very first page!

Cassidy quit her job, broke off her engagement and moved back to her parents house. She needed some time to work out what she was going to do with her life. She also needed to listen to a cassette tape from her past - the only thing that would be able to lift her spirits while she was feeling down. But of course, she couldn't find a cassette player, and so her mother mentioned a used record store in town where she might be able to find one.

It's at this store that she meets Leo, and she finds a cassette player! When the tape doesn't seem to play, Cassidy returns to the store to inquire about somebody to fix her broken tape. As it turns out, Leo knows a guy that might be able to help. While Leo is helping Cassidy get her tape fixed, they begin a friendship that of course develops in to something more.

Cassidy and Leo had amazing chemistry. Their banter was humorous and had me giggling. Their attraction towards each other was tangible. The story as a whole was one that made me feel those happy flutters and it left me crying happy tears. I know, I'm a sook ;) It's a story that could be easily devoured in one sitting. Even though I totally ADORED this book, I was left wanting more. I would love to read about what the future holds for Cassidy and Leo. I also want to know what the deal is with her brother!

If you are in the mood for a sweet contemporary romance with a touch of humor that will give you that fluttery happy feeling, then Life After Falling by Alyssa Rose Ivy is a MUST READ!

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
