REVIEW: Welcome to Sugartown (Sugartown #1) by Carmen Jenner

Synopsis

Ana Belle never wanted anything more than to hang up her apron, jump on her Vespa and ride off into the sunset, leaving Sugartown in the dust.

Elijah Cade never wanted anything more than a hot meal, a side of hot arse and a soft place to lay his head at night where he could forget about his past.

But you know what they say about wanting: you always want what you can’t have.

Nineteen year-old virgin Ana is about to discover that’s not quite true because a six foot three, hotter than hell, tattooed, Aussie sex god just rode into town. He’s had a taste of her pie and he wants more– no really, Ana bakes pies for a living, get your mind out of the gutter.

She’d be willing to hand over everything tied up in a big red bow, there’s just one problem; Elijah has secrets dirtier than last week’s underwear. Secrets that won't just break Ana’s heart, but put her life at risk, too. When those secrets come to light, their relationship is pushed to breaking point.

Add to that a psychotic nympho best friend, an overbearing father, a cuter than humanly possible kid brother, a wanton womanizing cousin, the ex from hell, and more pies than you could poke a ... err ... stick ... at.

And you thought small towns were boring.

Welcome to Sugartown.

*Content Warning. Intended for a mature 18+ audience. Contains explicit sex, oodles of profanity and a crap-tonne of AWKWARD.

My Thoughts

What can I say about Welcome to Sugartown? It was downright AWESOME! But awesome doesn't describe it highly enough. I seriously don't think there is a word that's been invented that can praise this book enough! And the awesome thing about this book? It's a DEBUT novel from the extremely funny, witty and talented Carmen Jenner. That's right, I said DEBUT. As in her first novel! I have a strong feeling that we will be reading a lot more from this author in the future.

Welcome to Sugartown has everything you could want from a great book. There's love, lust, humour, one sexy-as-hell tattooed biker, a crazy, sex obsessed  best friend, an over-protective father, an adorable 6 year old younger brother with a lisp and then, there's Ana.

Ana is 19 and has been running her Mother's pie shop/diner since her mother died when Ana was 14.  Due to her ex, she has a reputation as the town whore - even though she's a virgin. She notices Elijah as soon as he rides into town to begin his job as a mechanic at her Father's shop. Elijah notices Ana straight away too.

It's not all smooth sailing for Ana and Elijah. They both have reservations and hurt from their pasts to overcome.

Welcome to Sugartown is told from both Ana and Elijah's points of view. I loved getting inside both of their heads - especially Elijah's. It was great learning his inner most thoughts - as raunchy as most of them were! The banter between Ana and Elijah is truly comedic, as it also is between Ana and Holly (Ana's best friend). This book is literally laugh out loud funny in a lot of places, although it also has a serious side.

Due for publication in November 2013, this is one book not to be missed! I can't wait for the next book in the Sugartown series.

I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.
