Synopsis
I spent the last year in love with a guy who I was paying to fuck me. A guy who fell in love with someone else. One minute he was my life and then he wasn’t. I’ve experienced it all my life. People around until they got what they wanted. Being left on my own at age fifteen was the best thing that happened to me. Until I met Ivan.
Trust nobody but yourself, because everyone hurts you in the end. That’s the lesson I’ve learned. I’m done caring, and I'll do whatever is necessary to get through this. No matter what the cost. Because at the end of the day, I am in this alone.
My Thoughts
Promiscuous is Beth Masters story and picks up right where Tease leaves us, after Beth showed up at Coop's naked, except for her coat.
Bethany Masters has had a tough life. She never knew her father, her mother died when she was young leaving her and her sister alone, and then when she was fifteen, her sister died. Being only twenty, Beth had to learn at a young age how to look after herself.
After being sexually assaulted Beth begins to spiral out of control. She directs her anger of the assault towards Coop for standing her up that night, and pushes him away. She focuses on getting drunk every night and looking for sexual encounters without any repercussions. It's at a club one night that she meets Roman Hale.
Roman Hale as a mysterious aura about him. He's drop dead gorgeous, smart and caring, but he always holds back information about himself. He has been watching Beth for a while. I know it sounds kind of creepy, but he's getting paid to do it. He is determined to help Beth get over her troubles, and is surprised at how quickly he developed feelings for her.
I really enjoyed reading Promiscuous. I never expected to connect with Beth as strongly as I did. In Tease I got the impression that she was a spoiled brat, but after reading her story, I couldn't have been further from the truth! It was great getting to know her better in this book.
I liked how this book was told in alternating points of view between Beth and Roman. Even though we got a better look inside Roman's mind, he never lost his mysteriousness.
Missy Johnson's writing, as always, is addictive. She has the ability to drag you into her stories completely. You can't help but connect with her characters and feel the emotions that they are experiencing. I look forward to reading more of Beth and Roman in Scandalous, the next installment in the Tease series.
