REVIEW: Cree (My Way #1) by H.J. Bellus

Synopsis

Whose parents abandon them in a trashy trailer when they are five years old? Oh Yeah! Mine do!

Hey Hoochies! I'm Milly, and I am tired of taking kicks to the gut. A broken family, an asshole husband and the loss of loved ones have left me crying Uncle, and declaring a serious case of the Fuck-Its!

I had my heart broken, stomped on and shattered before I ever started on my journey to find my little piece of happiness. With a bucket list, a '66 Ford and wild dreams, I set out on an adventure that changed my life forever.

I found Cree...

A pirate with a little princess and they swept me off my ever lovin' feet, filling my world with sprinkles, mac n' cheese and the courage to live again.

They forced my fragile heart to trust and love without fear.

But the truth is, nobody's past stays hidden forever. It's an invisible monster waiting to attack and destroy. It has the capability to ruin everything you've worked to set right.

All it takes is one final blow to the gut to end everything...

My Thoughts

Milly's husband was cheating on her, and she knew it. She stayed with him because she loved her mother-in-law. After her mother-in-law dies of cancer she files for divorce and walks away with nothing. She later learns that her mother-in-law had left her everything - the house, cars and millions of dollars! Her ex husband got nothing.

Following instructions left for her in a letter from her mother-in-law she makes a 'bucket list thingy' and leaves town in search of her own happiness. She finds herself landing in a small town in Colorado, where she opens her own business.

Milly loves the small town life. She has made great friends, and then there's Cree. Cree is a gorgeous, single father. He has a farm just out of town, and his daughter Annie is the most adorable little thing.

Cree and Annie fill Milly's heart with the love she never thought she would experience. With her new little family, that also includes her best friend Lacey and Cree's sister Willow, life was perfect. Until her ex husband, aka the Bastard, finds her...

I loved Milly and Cree's story. They suited each other perfectly. All the characters were very easy to connect with. The dialect was humorous in places, and the story held my attention. It was an emotional heartfelt story that had me laughing and crying - both sad and happy tears.

I received an ARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review as part of the blog tour.
